What exactly is EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing -or EMDR, is a unique type of therapy that can offer significant relief from trauma symptoms. It cannot erase the past, but it sure can make it lighter to carry.

EMDR is unique in that, it is not talk therapy. Through targeted bilateral stimulation, typically in the form of eye movements, taps, or sounds, EMDR opens the door for the reprocessing of traumatic memories.

Gradually, your mind & body begin to integrate the negative experiences into your overall memory network in a more adaptive and less distressing way. I often tell clients, the eye movements will do the heavy lifting for you. Your job becomes to stick with the memory while we’re processing. And my job becomes to help you do so. But the healing happens from within.

EMDR is evidence-based and structured, which many clients also find relief in, as it becomes possible to anticipate what to expect from an upcoming session.

As you begin to access your innate capacity for healing and resilience, you are enabled to move forward in life with a greater sense of peace, empowerment, and {restored} well-being.

Sometimes you don’t realize the weight of something until you feel the weight of its release.
